- 1 in 5 students feel like their teachers aren’t confident with tech. There’s definitely a need for more training and support on that front.
- 40% of students are asking for more practical life skills—things like writing CVs or understanding taxes. Tech tools like financial apps or career platforms could be a big help.
- Around 64% use tech between 1 and 5 hours a week, but it really depends on the school—some use way more, some way less.
- 60% say their teachers actually encourage tech use in the classroom, so there’s a solid base of support already.
- 58% want more engaging lessons. Things VR, AI, and digital whiteboards—students are clearly ready for more interactive ways to learn.
- About 23%, including lots of students with additional needs, rely on assistive tech for 6–10 hours a week. For them, it’s not just useful—it’s vital for both accessibility and pushing their learning further.

To dig a little deeper: how the national curriculum references ‘writing skills’ is divided into two parts: the formation of letters and handwriting skills, and writing composition, creativity, and grammar.”
p13 “While the acceleration of AI and Language Learning Models (LLMs) has been the headline for many school technology discussions in recent times, it’s encouraging to learn that students still prefer the interactions of a human teacher.”
p10 “… students may have interpreted this question as ‘saving time’ on doing homework; simply meaning they can Google a solution. This, perhaps, is where the education system needs a re-think. If we are setting homework that is low-order thinking, and only requires fact ‘recall’ skills, then is it worth setting the work in the first place?”
